SCORE ONE FOR GEN NEXT

Hey, I’m only human; and given the nature of the stories I cover on this blog, it’s natural that I sometimes succumb to despair for our society’s future. But then I come across something like this high-schooler’s blog post. Full Cort Press isn’t distracted by grumpy-cat memes and ice-bucket challenges from seeing what Facebook is really all about. And if she’s savvy enough to grok that, she gives me hope for her entire generation. I’ll be keeping tabs on this kid.

IS YOUR DIET SODA A TOOL FOR POPULATION CONTROL?

Fawkes Rising has often railed against government and big business forcing toxic additives into our daily diet—like fluoride in our water, and MSG and aspartame in prepared foods. But we’ve assumed profit was the sole reason behind it. Now, however, these additives have been proven to reduce human fertility, and there’s growing concern that they’re part of a unified global effort to curtail population growth.

DIFFERENT GRADES OF HEROISM: ASSANGE, SNOWDEN, MANNING

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has said he’ll leave the Ecuadorean Embassy in London “soon.” He’s been holed up there for two years, primarily to avoid extradition to Sweden for a sexual misconduct charge, but also to avoid extradition to the U.S., where he fears indictment and possible criminal charges. Concurrently, from his self-exile in Russia, Edward Snowden used a cover story in Wiredto once again defend his release of thousands of classified NSA documents. Meanwhile, WikiLeaks whistleblower Chelsea Manning remains in Fort Leavenworth Prison, where she now charges that the U.S. military is denying her gender reassignment treatment.

Here at Fawkes Rising, we fervently advocate for transparency over secrecy, disclosure over deception—and the people who reveal what others try to conceal are our champions. But it’s worth noting that when faced with the consequences of having acted on this principle, the three individuals under discussion reacted very differently. One took sanctuary; one took flight…

…and one—the one with the most to lose, given the ongoing nature of her gender reassignment, stood her ground and faced her accusers. Maybe it’s due to her military training; but whatever the reason, it marks her out in our eyes as a higher calibre of hero, and her current troubles of more consequence than the much more written-about travails of her two more elusive contemporaries.

THE RATIONALE FOR CAVITY SEARCHES—DEMOLISHED

You’ll never hear a better summation of the insane hypocrisy of cavity searches by law enforcement officers prosecuting the war on drugs: “They are presuming to regulate what goes into people’s bodies,” says Jacob Sullum, Senior Editor of Reason, “therefore they end up physically delving into people’s bodies.” Watch more about this flagrant assault on personal autonomy and civil liberties.

UP NEXT: THE “INTERNET OF THINGS”—MORE CONTROL, LESS FREEDOM

Imagine a world where everything you own—your kitchen appliances, your garage door, your freakin’ toilet—is connected to a data center so you can control them from your smartphone. Of course their data will also be collected, analyzed and monetized by major corporations. Maybe you get greater control of your possessions…but ultimately, someone else gets greater control of you.

NEW EVIDENCE THAT WATER TO BE PRIVATIZED

We’ve been hearing for years that corporations have been angling to privatize America’s water supply…but for most people, it seemed too fantastic to believe. Then the chairman of Nestlé dropped the mask by denying that “water is a fundamental human right” …and while he (understandably) backtracked on that statement, the company still ruthlessly pumps out water from drought-afflicted regions. How is this possible?…Big business’s unholy love affair with government, that’s how. Turns out the bottled water industry is unregulated. Surprised? Didn’t think so. Thirsty? You’re gonna be thirstier.

CHILDREN’S AUTHORS: ONE-WORLD BRAINWASHERS?

Here’s a compelling argument that the global elites are commissioning young adult novels like The Hunger Games to ready the next generation for economic collapse and the subsequent one-world takeover of Agenda 21. That’s right…your kid’s book club might actually be indoctrination for humanity’s enslavement. With cookies.

FERGUSON AND THE HYPOCRISY OF THE GUN LOBBY

I’m sympathetic to the gun lobby’s warnings of citizens requiring ammo to fight off the feds when they try to roll in to steal their rights. Yet this week in Ferguson, Missouri, we had exactly that scenario. And where was the gun lobby?…On the side of the police. Because apparently citizens’ rights don’t matter when the citizens in question are brown-skinned.

YAHOO EBOLA SCARE A HACK JOB—OR A DRY RUN?

A recent Tweet from Yahoo News reported—pretty explosively—an Ebola outbreak in Atlanta, with 145 infected. Yahoo later claimed their feed was hacked…but was it a calculated move to test civic reaction? And, possibly, to drum up support for Big Pharma and an ebola vaccine?

GOV. LOVETT TAPS SHARPE FOR TOP CAMPAIGN POST

You know that cold, dark feeling of doom you get whenever government and the tech world team up? Well, you’re about to get it again. Angela Lovett has hired Kevin Sharpe to her presidential campaign’s “senior strategist and media advisor.” And since Sharpe’s rumored to have relationships with everyone from Microsoft to Panjea, you can guess who’s going to be along for the ride…and taking far more than their fair share of the opportunities for profit along the way. Ain’t democracy grand!
